Gabe Gudding, Kayaking and How the Internet Can Actually HELP Facillitate Real Life Human Interaction

I’m going on a short kayaking trip this weekend with a poet whose work I love: Gabe Gudding .  Though I’ve heard him read in person before, we’ve never even had a conversation face-to-face, nor have I actually been introduced to him in real life.  But that is just so cool to me.  It’s the perfect illustration of both the outdoor rec/boating and poetry worlds.  We started corresponding because of poetry, realized we both kayak and now we will be putting our lives in each others’ hands.  Crazy.

So, to celebrate that, here’s a video of me reading a poem from Gabe’s first book.  The book is great.  The poem, as you’ll see, is also great.  Enjoy.

Excellent reading in Athens, GA tonight. Nice mix of the scholarly and the in-your-face. Remember: Arbeit macht frei. And Isaiah 14.
    Drive safe.
