Jessica Baran’s “Remains to be Used” out now; release reading in St Louis, Jan. 26

Homies,

Here’s a message form my cousin, Jessica, who is a killer poet and just had her first book released by Apostrophe Books last month (an excellent press).  I’m extremely proud of her and I can’t wait to read this book.  It’s crazy to me that two people in one family got their first books published in the same year by reputable presses.  It’s rare to even find two people in one family both interested in experimental art.  I’m so glad to get to claim Jessica as my blood and I’m going to see what I can do about making the reading.  Good job, Jessica!

“Dear friends,

In an attempt to make good on the incredible amount of time, effort and patience Apostrophe Books has put into making my manuscript available to the greater world, I’m letting you know that my book of poetry, Remains to be Used, is now available in print:

Also, on Wednesday, January 26 at 7 p.m., poet Mary Jo Bang and I will be reading our work at the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, to celebrate the publication of Remains to be Used as well as the debut of a chapbook that local STL printing press All Along has created for some of my new work, titled Late and Soon, Getting and Spending. It will be a casual, low-key event — with wine and time to browse CAMSTL’s current exhibits — and I’d love it if you could attend.

Thanks for your time and hoping you’re enjoying a lovely holiday season,
Jessica”
